She Drops Her Dirty Oven Racks Into The Bathtub. Why? Genius!!  June 12, 2015 – 12:18 pm
Clean an Oven with Vinegar and

If you’re frequently in the kitchen making dinner and desserts in your oven, you know that it’s very easy for the inside of that big, ole cooking machine to get dirty (especially the oven racks). What’s not easy, however, is getting those oven racks clean.

Using the self-cleaning feature of the oven (if your oven even has one) isn’t really designed to clean away all the grease and grime from the oven racks. That would usually take quite a bit of elbow grease — but, luckily, there are YouTubers out there like Clean My Space who make it their mission to provide their viewers with easier ways to accomplish such tasks.

In the below video, you’ll get a great look at Clean My Space’s awesome trick for simplifying the arduous task of cleaning your oven racks. The best part? You won’t have to run out to the store to buy a bunch of expensive, heavy-duty cleaning agents. Most of what you’ll need is likely to be right there in your home already.

To get started, lay a towel down on the bottom of your bathtub and place your oven racks on top of it. (The towel will prevent you from scratching your beautiful tub.) Then, just plug the tub and turn the water up as hot as you can possibly get it. Fill the tub enough to cover the racks all the way.

Next, take a cup of regular, old laundry detergent (the powder is preferred, but liquid also works fine, as does dish detergent). Mix it with a little bit of hot water to get it dispersed and then pour it into the tub. Add a few shakes of detergent on top and let the bath sit for the next six-to-ten hours. (If possible, just let it sit overnight.)

The next morning, all you have to do is drain your tub and pull the oven racks out. All of the grease and grime won’t be gone, but it should be much easier to scrub off what’s left with a sponge or a toothbrush in just a few minutes. The detergent should have loosened everything up and left behind only a bit of residue.

That’s it! You’ve now got yourself some seriously clean oven racks, perfectly ready to get back to their baking, cooking, and making all the yumminess you know and love.
