MakeSomeTime Tracks and Invoices Your Time Like a Pro  March 7, 2016 – 11:28 am

MakeSomeTime Tracks and Invoices Your Time Like a ProIf you're going to succeed as a freelancer, it's important to have a good record-keeping system in place to track billable hours and invoice your clients. MakeSomeTime is an easy way to keep track of how you spend your workday.

This web-based app lets you give clients a detailed explanation of exactly how much time you spent working on their projects. Once you've registered for a free account, just enter the projects you're working on, along with client information like billing address and notes you need. Then, when you're ready to buckle down just enter what task you're starting and assign it to a project.

The built-in timer keeps track of the cumulative time you're working; just start it up, minimize the browser window, and get on with what you're doing. When you've completed the task or just want to take a break, click the timer's stop button. When you're ready to resume, the timer picks up right where you left off.

MakeSomeTime remembers everything it's tracking, so when it comes time to invoice all you have to do is fill in a few fields, select your project from the drop down menu, and let the app do its thing. The invoice it churns out can be easily emailed to your client in a couple of clicks. MakeSomeTime also assigns each invoice a permanent URL so clients can access it anywhere.

The basic pricing plan lets you manage up to five clients and send out one invoice a month, but there's a handful of premium plans to choose from if you need more than the basic has to offer. We've looked at other nice web-based time-tracking apps, including computer-based software, and we like MakeSomeTime for how easy it is for users to track time from anywhere you happen to be working—from home or the local coffee shop.
